─ We never lived in poverty, but peasant labor did not allow us to roam. Father make us work from dawn to dusk. In haymaking, there was not a single minute left free. Most of my classmates lived in the village of Sadon, located at the foot of the mountains. In the summer they had a full vacation. Three months! I remember that I looked with envy at the guys who were leaving for trips to pioneer camps, to the sea with their parents. I worked hard all summer.

In May-June, weeding and hilling potatoes in a personal plot. Harvested crops were sold to miners. They took our potatoes with pleasure.

In politics

Bitarov several times became a deputy of the Assembly of Representatives of Vladikavkaz. At the May 11, 2003 elections of deputies of the Assembly of Representatives of the City of Vladikavkaz, he was elected, gaining 48.33%.

In the fall of 2007, Bitarov came forward as a self-nominated candidate for the fourth convocation of the North Ossetian parliament (passed through a mixed system). He ran for Nalchik district No. 28 of the Zereterenky municipal district of Vladikavkaz. He was elected at the December 2, 2007 election, gaining 90.66% of the vote.
