The world of music allows you to enjoy all kinds of works that are performed using various musical instruments. Some of them sound soft and quiet, and some instruments produce such a strong sound that they can lay their ears. Let's find out which instrument is the loudest.
Anyone who has ever heard the sound of this instrument, to the question, “Which instrument is the loudest?”, Will undoubtedly name it. Along with this, the organ called the “King of Musical Instruments” is also the largest in size. Musicians sweeten the ears of listeners by playing on one or more organ keyboards. The sound in the instrument is obtained due to the presence of different-timbered pipes - air flows when special valves are opened into metal, wooden or made from other materials pipes. The organ also has a pedal keyboard. The largest organ producing the loudest sounds is located in the concert hall of Boardwalk (Atlantic City). It produces a very powerful sound, which can be compared with the sound that 25 brass bands produce.
Its main elements (pipes) are made of reinforced concrete, since wooden parts can not withstand such powerful organ sounds. The largest pipe in the instrument is eighteen meters in length. The Bordeaux Authority was built in 1932. When you are away from the organ in a meter, you can hear a sound of 130 dB - the same noise figure is recorded when the jet takes off (and now imagine that the plane just flew at a height of ten meters above you - the noise from this height is considerable). To play such a musical instrument is very difficult, so the people who do this consider this activity a matter of their life.
On the pages of the Book of Records, the Borduk organ was listed as the largest musical instrument and organ, as well as the loudest instrument in the world. At the moment, this tool is partially functioning, and all because it is quite old, dilapidated and broken. In 1998, it was partially restored, but it is not yet possible to use it in full force.
If one wonders as to which instrument is the loudest, it is impossible to ignore power tools, among which electric guitars are recognized as the loudest. Those who are fond of playing the guitar can quite confidently name the three best electric guitars that are quite famous today - the Gibson electric guitar (Les Paul series), the Fender electric guitar and the Stratocaster. The first guitar, invented by Gibson (in 1941), became in the sixties a kind of symbolism of the rock direction. The second most popular is an electric guitar with two pickups from Leo Fender. The third guitar with three pickups makes it possible to get a rather rich and varied sound, thanks to which the musicians produce excellent melodies using this instrument. The Stratocaster guitar was just a breakthrough in the world of music. But today, all three instruments are rare. And the guitars that are produced today have even more functionality and give an even wider sound variety.
Which instrument is the loudest when considering wind instruments? Here you can highlight the harmonica, the Swiss horn, pipes, bagpipes. The harmonica known to all of us is capable of reproducing quite strong sounds. Its internal structure is represented by plates made of metal - the harmonica, whose internal elements are made of copper, will have a more powerful sound.
In order to comfortably play on the Swiss horn, one part of it must be put on the ground, since the length of the instrument exceeds 3 meters. The sound produced by this unusual-looking instrument can be heard at a distance of several tens of kilometers. There is a similar horn in China - it is called Sona. Among other instruments, it stands out for its appearance and loud sound.
The pipes produce such a powerful sound that only three are enough to “replay” the orchestra. In the 19th century, a double bass pipe was made, the height of which was 2.28 meters, and the entire length was eleven meters. Such a pipe was made for the American composer J. Fillin before his performance on a world-wide tour.
Bagpipes are also quite loud-sounding instruments. The Scottish bagpipes give the most piercing sound - their sound is quite unusual for a person who is not accustomed to such an instrument.
Among the most loud in their sound can be noted and drums - drums. They were used in antiquity - drums were used to communicate and transmit important information. And today, some African tribes communicate with each other at a distance of ten kilometers using these tools.
The loudest among such instruments is a drum, equal in diameter to 396 centimeters. But its sound could be heard only once at a concert in London, which took place in May 1987. They did not dare to use such a powerful instrument anymore, since it is possible to seriously harm a person's eardrum.
The loudest drums
The drum was recognized as the loudest, the diameter of which was three meters ninety-six centimeters. Due to the extremely powerful sound, he sounded in the concert only once - it happened on the last May day of 1987 in London at the Royal Festival Hall.
The loudest glory was enjoyed by a battle drum made of human skin. So the Czech hero Jan ижižka bequeathed to use it after his death, so that, having gone into another world, he would continue to fight with his enemies. It is known that in the 18th century the famous instrument fell into the hands of the Prussian king Frederick the Great, after which it was delivered to Germany. Further, the drum path is lost.
